Hello from John, Jack, JB (John Boy), JJ, JJK007, and other sundry names I'm called depending on the place and person doing the calling.
Here's my mission. In these paragraphs I shall try to vent, share, rant, rave, analyze, amuse, inspire and make some sense of this little blue ball spinning around the Sun. May she spin for as long as possible and shall the polar icecaps stop thawing. Unless of course you likes that awful movie, Waterworld with Kevin Costner. If that was enough to scare people into saving the planet, I'm not sure what else Al Gore and his posse can do. You know?
I've written a lot of words in my 46 years, working as a radio reporter and freelance writer since Bruce Springsteen put on that silly bandana and became more rich than god. I've been published in all the "Boston Rags," a few National ones, but mostly my words have gone into a microphone and out into the ether. By now most of them could be as far away as Saturn, where I hear the radio reception is very bad.
Anyway, I hope I've done some good educating, informing and entertaining whoever happened to be listening or reading. One time I did a report and got the water on for some folks. Another time I won an award (2nd place - AP in Boston) for a three part series on Alzheimer's Disease.
Over the years I've tried to follow the directions of the fellow who said that a journalists job is to afflict the comfortable and comfort the afflicted. Not sure if I've succeeded, but maybe someday I'll find out. Or not.
So I say greetings to you and invite you to participate when the spirit moves you, because after all is said and done, without you I'm just hitting plastic keys on a machine made far, far away.
I know this because I've called their tech support phone line.
Hope you enjoy what comes next.
